Terms of Business — a brief summary

Revisions to the copy
My quote (or estimate)allows for two sets of changes to the initial draft: any further rounds of changes will be charged at £70 per hour.

Revisions to the nature and/or scope of the brief

Please ensure that the initial assignment details email which I’ll send in response to your enquiry, brief or order, covers all the bases. Any subsequent change to those details — or if the scope of the brief broadens — means extra work for me and extra cost for you.

Copyright
When I have received full and final payment, copyright of the work is assigned to you. You can then use my copy as you wish. However, until final payment is received, the copyright remains with me. I reserve the right to display the work, or place a link it, on my online portfolio.

Deadlines

If I make a promise, I keep it — providing you play your part as well. I can’t be responsible for missing a deadline if you're late with the down payment, slow to supply sources of reference or fail to provide the feedback I need within the agreed timescales. I also can’t be responsible for any deadlines missed because of circumstances beyond my control.

Latency/project lag
If I have not received any comments or further instructions from you within two weeks of submitting the first and any subsequent drafts, I will assume the project is complete and invoice the balance of costs.

Contract cancellation
If you decide to cancel our agreement, I will retain the downpayment and if necessary invoice any additional time I’ve invested in your project.

Legal
I will strive to ensure that all facts and statements I make on your behalf are true and correct and that nothing I write infringes any copyrights or other third party rights. However, I can't be liable to you, or anyone else, for damages, loss of profit, lost savings, complaints, claims, litigation or other incidental, consequential or special damages which arise as a result of my copy.

If you would prefer to establish different arrangements to those outlined here, let's discuss your thoughts before I start work on your behalf.
